Baby It's Cold Outside

For this past fall quarter at school, I took a Knits course. We learned a lot about how knits drape on a body and how to translate that drape into our illustrations and computerized layouts. This entailed mastering the NedGraphics Fashion Studio Suite (Easy Knit, Easy Color, Easy Weave), which I found to be fairly simple, but it was not hard to spend an inordinate amount of time perfecting a lot of itty bitty details.
We also learned to knit using a machine. As long as you kept your knit weighted and didn't run into any tangles, yarn fed easily into the rows of hooked needles, and it was rather relaxing to just sit and run the carriage back and forth. Of course, we also learned to knit by hand. My grandmother had taught me some simple knits when I was around 10 or 11, but other than making a few potholders and Barbie blankets, I never did much with it. Now I find I love it! I never thought I'd become one of those ladies who carries her knitting with her and knits while she watches Murder, She Wrote - I mean, just regular TV.

For Christmas I sent my friend Shannon something for her two Dachshunds, Joey and Josh. I didn't want them to get too cold while playing at the dog park!

I've been knitting with fairly large needles, sizes 11 and 13, but I'd like to try smaller needles as well as some chunkier wools. Plus, I should branch out a little from only making scarves!

A new venture!

As we say goodbye to 2009, I'd like to take on something new. I get wrapped up in so many projects and lessons in (and out of) school, I figured why not share the wealth of knowledge? Hopefully it will be successful and entertaining, to at least one other person than my mom. :)
